In May of 2017 we opened our "Free Store." Our clients can come once every calendar month to collect clothing, shoes, coats, toiletries, and other practical items. Our motto is "freely received, freely given."
In a typical month we serve 80-100 people and distribute more than 1000 items, everything from jeans to sleeping bags to underwear. Some of these items are donated and some we purchase in bulk to get the lowest prices. Monetary donations are welcome to enable us to purchase some of these items, especially things like new underwear and work boots.
If you would like to donate new or gently used items, they can be dropped off at our location at 215 N. Church Street, Durham, Monday through Thursday from 9 am until 1 pm. Tax receipts are available upon request.

On those happy days when our clients move into permanent housing, we help by providing furniture, kitchen and bathroom items, and other things that make a house a home.
We are happy to accept household items and we always need volunteers for our move-in team. Contact us if you are interested in helping in this way!
